VO Director, Producer
"Relatable yet refined, intelligent, grounded, elegant, captivating, gently authoritative, warm, soothing..." These are some favorite descriptors I've heard from the audiobook community regarding my signature sound.
As a classically trained theatre actress with many years of on-screen experience, I am a new voice to narration. You can learn more about my latest works and artistic trajectory in the details of my ‘About’ page. Although I may have crossed your screens in various capacities, mostly promoting popular brands, it’s continuing to enrich my social contribution in my work that has become an ever-growing passion. I aspire to tell great and poignant stories, to share knowledge, and circulate wisdom as an artist and narrator who also prefers coloring outside of the lines with regard to innovative and non-traditional casting.
As one fending for self and others in the role of eldest daughter, surrounded by a sea of rambunctious brothers and boy cousins, I grew up on an urban island of diversity at the foot of the American Rockies known as inner city Denver. I was taught early on to eliminate cultural blinders and to be curious about the perceived 'other,' to think globally and act locally. In elementary, I was bussed to a special school for part of the day to learn about watercolor, pottery, and poetry. As a kid, I gravitated toward art and books with stories that took place in foreign lands and mystical worlds. The books I loved most were found on my mother's shelves in the form of epic sagas like Jean M. Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear & Earth's Children series and Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon in her Avalon Series. It was this mystical and historic fiction in far away lands starring brave and intrepid heroines traversing the terrain of their hearts that drew me as strongly then as they do now. While I have yet to inhabit the life of a high priestess in my work, it's a feat that I absolutely aspire to fulfilling. I've also discovered a great love for down-to-earth general fiction and American stories, as the beauty and cultural tapestry of our nation is vast.
The literary genres that I lean toward are Popular and Historical Fiction, High Fantasy, Romantic Comedy, International Classics, Regency Romance, and Poetry. Being ever a student of life, in the realm of nonfiction I gravitate toward Self Help & Spirituality, Health & Nutrition, Art, Philosophy, Culture, Psychology, Political Science, and Sociology. Civil rights and global humanitarianism are also subjects that I very much appreciate and work to address in my personal life and advocacy work. Whether it’s resurrecting obscure classics, focusing on educational tomes, empowering an indy author's vision, or imparting the appropriate dynamic to a bestseller, I hope to support great writing with the unique and particular power of my personal and vocal range both in non-fiction and as storyteller. I would, as well, love to add my voice to pertinent political works, banned books, and to narrate on the important subjects of Climate and the Environment.
Outside of my studio, I love visiting parks, gardens and museums. I mostly binge period drama and tend to an urban xeriscape pollinator garden. I love arranging flowers from my own backyard, collecting herbs for my apothecary, and am an avid DIYer. A proud native Coloradan, I enjoy hiking, camping and skiing our Alpine Rockies.
I've received a certificate of completion to facilitate empathic communication from the Center for Building a Culture of Empathy, and am a passionate advocate for the campaign to create a United States Department of Peacebuilding, Bill HR 1111 in Congress.
